In 2019 I joined CD Projekt Red as a Motion Designer to help bring the vision of Cyberpunk 2077
to life in UI/UX and In-game Ads departments.
As a team, we really had a lot to think of with multiple platforms at launch.
Optimization was crucial and I had to remember that while doing all of the tasks.
I was responsible, among others, for:
Cyberpunk 2077 logo animation in the game
In-game TV ads
Steet ads / billboards
Loading screens
UI animations for quests
Quest briefings
Below you can see some of the work that made it into the game and few videos from the process.
All of it was created in combination with Red Engine and After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator.
UI/UX & In-game Ads Showreel
Compilation of selected works done for Cyberpunk 2077.
Awesome journey with great people in both teams.
Logo animation
Cyberpunk 2077 logo animation visible right after the prologue.
The goal here was to make it similar to our in-game UI style.
Also, multilanguage so I could easily swap the version.
Procedural approach was the best way to achieve it.
A lot of freedom and I am grateful for that :)
Breakdown video included.
Lifepaths
Short videos presenting each lifepath.
I took care of editing the exisiting material with additional effects.
TV In-game Ads
All TV Ads I animated in one video.
You can watch them in Night City TV stations only.
It was a pleasure to work on all ads due to a lot of freedom and fun during the production.
Street Ads
While traveling around Night City, you may come across a lot of animated advertisements on different devices.
We have over 90 animated Ads with multiple formats.
Together with Artur Kalinowski, we animated everything in Red Engine.
A lot work but it definitely paid off, bringing even more life into the city.
Below you can see some of the animations I made. Don’t hesitate to look for more in Night City :)
Loading screens
I was responsible for figuring out how to prepare, animate all loading screens. Combined with textures and video files.
The challenge was to animate as much as possible in the engine with a little use of video files.
It had to be light, optimized and loopable until the player choose to continue.
Keep it simple, subtle yet attractive visually.
Thanks to close cooperation with teams like Environment, Concept Art and Code UI, we were able to pull this off.
I animated 5 of 8 loading screens and coordinated the rest.
